Amharic for Kids (Ages 5–16) is a fun, live, teacher-led class created especially for heritage / diaspora kids who want to understand and speak the language they hear from parents and grandparents. In small interactive groups, students meet real Amharic teachers on live video and learn through stories, songs, games and simple conversations. Together, they gradually explore the Amharic alphabet (ፊደል), everyday words and phrases for greetings, family, home, school, food, numbers, colors, time and weather, while also discovering key parts of Ethiopian culture such as holidays, music and traditions.
Because classes are live, teachers can adjust the pace on the spot so younger learners don’t feel overwhelmed and older learners stay challenged, with plenty of visual support, repetition, speaking practice and chances to ask questions. Parents can see progress through clear activities, projects and regular feedback from the teacher. By the end of the program, students will be able to introduce themselves, talk simply about their family and daily life, recognize many common words in writing, and feel more confident using Amharic at home and in their community, not just watching lessons, but actively participating in them each week.
